Welcome to
Gaia Island of Dogs Bali Sanctuary
Meet our paralysed dogs
Our paralysed dogs have their own space — a quiet, adapted area where they move freely in their wheels and carts. Come sit with them. They are some of the most loving dogs you will ever meet.
Meet our puppies & new arrivals
Our newest rescues and our puppies have their own safe pens. Watch a puppy learn to trust, and see a frightened new arrival start to relax in real time.
Two floors of free-roaming dogs
Behind the walls of GAIA, our dogs roam free across two floors — no cages, no chains. Come up and meet a pack that has learned to live together again.
Help us walk the dogs
When you come, you can help us walk the dogs. A walk with a visitor is socialisation, exercise and joy all at once — for the dog and for you.
Keeping our dogs safe
They're vaccinated, sterilised & waiting to meet you
All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and sterilised. When you arrive, we just ask you to clear the soles of your shoes and your hands at the front door — a small act that protects our rescues and keeps the sanctuary healthy for every visitor after you.
Have the best time!
What we always need
Kibble & rice
Every month we need 30 bags of kibble and 30 bags of rice to feed our 220 dogs. The single most useful thing a visitor can bring is a 20kg bag of either — it goes straight into the next meal. They also have a mixed diet of meat, veggies and broth to keep them healthy and strong. If you can, pick one up on the way; if not, a donation buys one for you.
Beyond food
Other supplies we always need
Food is our biggest monthly cost, but the everyday care items below keep our rescues comfortable, clean and healthy. If you'd like to bring or donate any of them, we'd be so grateful.
Leads, collars & toys
New or gently used leads and collars, plus tough chew and enrichment toys to keep our dogs busy and stimulated.
Donated towels & bedsheets
Old towels and bedsheets make cosy, washable bedding — they go straight into the kennels for soft, warm rest.
Dog shampoo
Gentle, everyday dog shampoo for regular bath days to keep coats clean and skin healthy across 220 dogs.
Deworming tablets — Drontal
Drontal deworming tablets keep our dogs worm-free and healthy. We need 220 tablets every month — that's around $500 each month, so even bringing some of those helps so much!
Medicated shampoo
Medicated shampoos for dogs recovering from skin infections, mange and the toll of street life.
Skin meds — Simparica, Bravecto, NexGard
Flea, tick and mange protection like Simparica, Bravecto or NexGard is vital for dogs healing from skin conditions. We need 220 tablets every 3 months to keep the whole pack covered.
Donations for sanctuary upgrades
We always need to make upgrades to keep the quality of GAIA — whether it's fencing, roofing, gas, or cooking materials for preparing the dogs' meals.
