Our work
What a month at GAIA actually looks like
Six programmes running at once, most of them unglamorous. Together they take a dog from the roadside to a bed of their own.
Sterilisation clinics
Mobile clinics set up in villages, temples and beach communities. 8,300 dogs sterilised since August 2024 — the single most effective way to reduce suffering on the island.
Emergency rescue
Calls come in day and night: a dog hit by a scooter, a litter under a building site, a chained dog with no water. We collect, stabilise and treat.
Veterinary care
Mange, TVT, distemper, parasites, wounds and malnutrition. Long courses of treatment, not quick fixes, with vaccination for every dog in our care.
Events to raise needed funds
Open days, adoption drives and community events that bring people to the sanctuary and turn visitors into monthly sponsors, adopters and donors.
Rehabilitation
Frightened dogs learn hands are safe. Puppies learn houses, leads and children. This is the slow part that makes adoption stick.
Adoption and follow-up
Careful matching in Bali and abroad, home checks, and check-ins after the dog settles in so nobody is left to cope alone.
Every programme runs on monthly sponsors.
