Muffin’s story

Before & after

Muffin

Muffin was found dumped by the roadside, her face full of maggots and barely clinging to life. Nobody knows how long she had been there, but it was clear nobody was coming back for her.

Our team cleaned her wounds, treated the infection and gave her a quiet space to heal. It took weeks of daily care, but slowly the pain left her eyes and she began to trust again.

Muffin lived her last wonderful years loved at Gaia — warm, safe and never alone again. In the summer of 2026, Muffin passed away peacefully with her saviour Leah by her side. She is now fully at peace.

Odin’s story

Before & after

Odin

When we found Odin on the side of the road, we thought he was blind. He was so severely neglected — left there as if he was nothing, skin and bones, with no one coming back for him.

It turned out his eyes were fine; the neglect and malnutrition had simply shut him down. Weeks of proper food, quiet care and gentle handling brought him back to himself.

Today Odin sees every visitor clearly — and leans into the hands that once would have been the last thing he expected.

Roro’s story

Before & after

Roro

Roro was found as a puppy locked in a tiny cage, howling for help. Nobody came for him, and he was too small to understand why.

Our team brought him in, gave him proper food, vaccinations and the space to just be a puppy for the first time.

Today you wouldn't even know what he'd been through — confident, playful and the first to greet anyone at the gate.

Cliffy’s story

Before & after

Cliffy

Cliffy was found on the edge of a cliff in Uluwatu, absolutely petrified of humans. He had been alone and exposed, with nowhere to go.

Our team gained his trust slowly — quiet visits, gentle hands, no pressure. Each day he came a little closer, and each day the fear loosened its grip a little more.

He is still progressing, one careful step at a time, but the progress is real and it is his.

Peter Pan’s story

Peter Pan

Peter Pan was found malnourished and his body was jelly with the severity of it. He was so weak he could barely stand, and people had been walking past him for weeks.

Our team gave him round-the-clock care — proper food, treatment and the quiet space he needed to rebuild. Slowly, his body strengthened and he began to trust.

Today Peter Pan lives his loved days at Gaia — warm, safe and never hungry again.

Leo’s story

Leo

Leo was found in the house of horrors with six other dogs, all left to die. We believe they were on the way to the dog meat trade.

Our team pulled him out in time — skinny, frightened and with nobody coming back for him. He was given proper food, treatment and a safe place to recover.

Slowly the fear lifted and Leo began to trust again. He has come so far from the horrors he was found in.

Sterilisation is the story behind every story.

Since August 2024 our sterilisation programme has treated 8,000 dogs — in villages, on beaches, wherever the need is greatest. It is the single most effective thing we can do to stop puppies being born into hunger and disease. We're due to kick start more sterilisations soon, which means every donation and every programme needs funding right now — your support goes straight to work where it matters most.
