FAQs

Questions we are asked most

What does $50 a month cover?+

Two meals a day, locally sourced, plus vaccinations, parasite treatment, sterilisation and any vet care your sponsored dog needs. It is the full monthly cost of keeping one dog well.

Do I get updates about the dog I sponsor?+

Yes. Check in with the team any time for photos and news about your dog — including the day they are adopted. If your dog finds a home, we introduce you to another dog waiting.

Can I cancel my sponsorship?+

Any time, with no questions. A steady $50 a month helps us plan, but we would rather you give what genuinely fits your life.

Can I adopt a dog if I live outside Bali?+

Yes. Many of our dogs fly to Europe, Australia and North America. We handle vaccinations, paperwork and flight arrangements, and talk you through the requirements for your country.

How long does adoption take?+

Locally in Bali it can be a couple of weeks. Overseas it usually takes one to three months, depending on your country's import rules and rabies titre timings.

Are Bali dogs good family dogs?+

Bali dogs are intelligent, hardy and loyal. Many are wonderful with children. We tell you honestly what each dog needs — some want a quiet home, some want a busy one.

Why is sterilisation such a big part of your work?+

Because it prevents suffering before it begins. Since August 2024 we have sterilised 8,300 dogs — about $60 each — which means thousands of puppies never born onto the streets.

Where does my donation go?+

Into vet bills, medication, food, sterilisation clinics and transport. We keep overheads low and share where each month's funds went with our sponsors.

Can I visit the sanctuary?+

Yes — we are open every day from 11am to 3pm. Come walk the dogs, meet the team, and see the work your support makes possible. Wear shoes you don't mind cleaning afterwards and we'll show you around.

How can I foster?+

Fill out the foster form on our foster page. We will chat with you about your garden, your home and any other pets, then match you with a dog who needs a bridge home. Fostering means a minimum of four weeks so the dog gets real grounding — we provide the food, medication and vet support for the whole foster period, so all you bring is patience, time and love.

How can I adopt?+

Fill out the adoption application form on our adoption page — that always comes first. Once we have read it, we chat honestly about the dog you have in mind and book a time for you to meet them at the sanctuary. Sometimes it works the other way around: you visit, and one of the dogs chooses you. Locally it takes a couple of weeks; overseas, one to three months for vaccinations, paperwork and flights. There is no adoption fee — we just want the right forever home.

How can I help an injured dog?+

If you find an injured dog, stay calm and keep people and traffic away from it. Do not force the dog to move — cover it gently with a towel or sarong to keep it calm and protected. Call or message us on Instagram with the location and a photo, and we will help or guide you to the nearest vet. If you can safely transport the dog to a clinic, do — but never put yourself or the dog at further risk. A small donation toward emergency vet care also helps us reach dogs like this faster.

How can I help a dog with bad skin on the streets?+

Skin issues are common in Bali street dogs and usually come from mange, fleas, ticks or poor nutrition. The kindest thing you can do is message us on Instagram with a photo and location so we can assess and treat the dog. If you are feeding the dog, adding a little cooked egg or protein to its food helps. Please do not apply human creams or home remedies — they can make skin worse. A monthly donation or sponsoring a dog helps us cover the medicated baths, dips and treatments these dogs need.
