Change a life, because all dogs matter — all for the dogs!
GAIA Island of Dogs Bali

About us

Every dog deserves a life worth living

From despair to hope. From fear to freedom. GAIA Island of Dogs exists for the dogs Bali forgot — and we will not stop until no dog is left on the streets.

Our mission

Saving Bali's street dogs, one life at a time

We rescue the sick, the injured and the abandoned from Bali's streets and beaches. Every dog we welcome off the streets receives veterinary care, sterilisation, good food, safety — and above all, love — until they are ready for a forever home.

We work alongside local villages, vets and supporters around the world, because lasting change for Bali's dogs is only possible together.

Our vision

Where despair becomes hope.Where fear becomes freedom.Where forgotten dogs find a future.

We dream of a Bali where no dog is born into hunger, no dog suffers without treatment, and every dog knows a safe home. Through rescue, sterilisation and education, we are turning that vision into reality — one dog, one village at a time.

Our story

GAIA WAS BORN FROM A SIMPLE TRUTH: NO ONE WAS COMING FOR THESE DOGS

The GAIA sanctuary — dogs and carers together in the Bali greenery

On Bali's beaches and back streets, dogs were starving in plain sight — broken by the streets and invisible to the world. What began as feeding and treating the dogs nobody stopped for grew into something bigger: a sanctuary where the forgotten could heal.

GAIA — the island of dogs — became that place. A stretch of Balinese land where street dogs arrive in despair and learn, often for the first time, what safety feels like. Where fear becomes freedom, and survival becomes a life worth living.

Today, GAIA is home to hundreds of rescued dogs and puppies, supported by a devoted local team and sponsors around the world. Hundreds more have been sterilised, treated, adopted and flown to forever homes. And still, every week, another dog arrives who needs us.

"Our story isn't finished. It continues with every dog we carry off the streets — and with every person who chooses to stand with them."
