How to adopt

They survived the streets. Now they wait for you.

Adoption is the end of the road for a GAIA dog — the moment a rescue becomes a companion. Every dog we place has been treated, vaccinated and sterilised, and is ready for a home in Bali or overseas.

Before you apply

Finding the right match, for life.

We take our rescue work seriously. Adoption is a lifelong commitment, so please think honestly about your lifestyle, your family, the other animals at home, and the life you can give a dog who has already lost one. Our team knows every dog here — and we'll help you find the one who truly fits.

We adopt within Bali and overseas, and we walk you through every step, from your first meeting to flight paperwork.

03

Health check & paperwork

Every GAIA dog leaves fully vaccinated, sterilised and health-checked. For overseas adoption we prepare export certificates, flight crates and customs paperwork.

04

Two-week trial

Every adoption begins with a two-week trial and an adoption contract, so both of you are certain it's right.

05

Go home together

You take your dog home — in Bali or at the airport overseas. We stay in touch afterwards, for life if you want us to.

A GAIA rescue dog ready for adoption in Bali

We know our dogs.

Please trust our knowledge of them. If we believe the dog you've chosen isn't the right match for your life, we'll gently recommend one who is — because a second failed home is a wound we won't risk.

Questions

Questions about adopting

Can I adopt from overseas?

Yes. We rehome dogs to Australia, Europe and North America. We prepare all export health certificates, flight crates and customs paperwork — you meet your dog at the airport. Message us directly on Instagram and we'll talk you through your country's requirements.

Are the dogs vaccinated and sterilised?

Yes — all of them. Every GAIA dog is vaccinated and sterilised before they leave us, along with deworming and a full health check. Their medical file travels with them. Message us directly if you'd like to see a dog's full medical history.

What does adoption cost?

There is no cost to adopt — but donations go far for GAIA and every contribution helps the next dog. The main thing we ask for is the promise to give them the long, loving and healthy life they deserve. For overseas adoptions, flight costs are separate — message us directly on Instagram and we'll confirm the details before you commit.

What if it doesn't work out?

We take every dog back, any time, no questions. Our first priority is the dog's welfare, always. If you're struggling, please discuss it with your appointed staff member — they know you and your dog, and will help you work through it or arrange everything.
